Overview of the University

University of the Punjab is the biggest and most prestigious University of Pakistan. It is also the oldest University
of subcontinent Indo-Pakistan, established on modernizing its syllabi and introducing new disciplines and areas
of specialization with more than seven hundred teachers, departmental libraries and modern computer and
science labs. It has over 730 permanent faculty members involved in teaching and research and over 30,000 on
campus students. It has 13 faculties, 10 constituent colleges, over 63 departments, centres and institutes.
It is the most prestigious institution of Pakistan which has more than 500 affiliated colleges and is responsible
for the syllabi and examination of their students. University of the Punjab’s main library is the biggest library in
Pakistan which accommodates almost 600,000 books.
For the spread of higher education and imparting quality education to the young generation, University of the
Punjab established its campuses. Coming at Gujranwala in 2005 and now in Jhelum is the manifestation of
Punjab University’s policy to provide maximum facilities to the people of Pakistan at their doorsteps.
Jhelum Campus will carry on all bright traditions and norms of University of the Punjab set during its history
which spread over one and a quarter century.
University of the Punjab offers five disciplines i.e. Computer Science, Business Administration, Commerce, Law
and Administrative Sciences in the first instance at its Jhelum Campus. Equipped with modern library,
computer labs, and modern classrooms, it’s all five disciplines have experienced and highly qualified faculty. The
teachers have devoted themselves to impart quality education in a congenial academic environment.
The Jhelum campus has launched Bachelors programs in the following disciplines.
